01 · the problem
Everyone my age was drinking soda. Just not one my family could.
I grew up in a family where almost every single member has diabetes. We were constantly putting in extra work, which is especially tough for a foodie family like ours, just to not miss out on what everyone else was enjoying.
So I spent what my mom describes as forever (and so much of her money, sorry mom!) reading ingredients and labels, getting creative in the kitchen to make food that tastes good and that you don't have to think about.
Zero sugar soda existed. It just came with its own trade-off: a weird aftertaste, or an ingredient list people are starting to question. That took us right back to the problem.
02 · the fix
We set the rules before the recipe.
I chose biology to learn, knowing I'd find something to build that could help people. I talked to peers through programs like Cornerstone and to people in the industry at tradeshows, and they all said the same thing: there's a gap for a truly zero sugar, nothing artificial soda from a brand Gen Z can trust. So we made the label the starting point.
Sugar
Absolutely none. Full flavour, no sugar spike.
Artificial stuff
Nothing artificial. Nothing weird.
Erythritol
Left out on purpose.
Blend per flavour
Made for each flavour, not one formula for all.
03 · the nerdy stuff
Things to know so you can tell your friends.
Monk fruit is a tiny gourd.
Also called luo han guo, it's a small green melon-like fruit traditionally grown in southern China.
Its sweetness isn't sugar.
It comes from natural compounds called mogrosides, which taste many times sweeter than sugar. That's how we hit 0g without anything artificial.
Every flavour gets its own blend.
Strawberry Colada and Yuzu Creamsicle aren't one base with different flavouring. Each one is tuned separately so the sweetness sits right.
